Who are you

Who is in your body?,
Is it a brain or veins that are noddy?
What is it like to own your shoes?,
Is it like flying away from the blues?
Will anyone ever understand?,
Is there someone of my brand?
Is this what they call yours and mine?,
The period when even the sun doesn't shine.
Or am I the only one down that lane?
Are the others the ones who are sane?
I don't know you, nor do you know my mind,
How can I tell if you are true or just surface kind?
Where, can I find my own party?,
Where everyone loves me hearty.

Corona

Breathing it all in,
The polluted air,
Whilst it being a sin.

Counting the days,
Wondering if this is,
One of the devil's plays.

Looking at the Sun,
Rise and dawn,
Thinking how far I could Run.

Looking at the Lights,
And forgetting about,
All of my Human rights.

Because now I got none,
Because of what the World
Has done.

In "What Should It Be" Laura Ćuti writes openly with compelling compassion and insight into pressing issues, both of our times and personal impressions. With queries on the validity and authenticity of social interactions and mores, Ćuti speaks directly with deep, honest perceptions concerning what is deemed meaningful and what is contrived.

The poems range from lyrical imagery, intertwined with sceptical nuances on platitudes, to melodious songs, candidly illuminated by poignant insights. Her verses capture a palpable loneliness and solitude, shared in the hearts and minds of all, giving a voice to the unvoiced. She delves into and sheds light on the conflicts of solitude, isolation and loneliness, between what is conventionally noted as attainable and expected to what is revealed and grasped at, yet unattainable, but still hoped for. Ćuti's poetry is filled with the yearning for and questioning of what constitutes acceptance and love in all of its mercurial forms. (Maria A. Jurjevich, mr.sc.mr.art, MFA)
