Call for application - Writers in residence, Split
We cordially invite writers and translators from Central and Southeast Europe to apply for the literary scholarship and participation in the residential programme “Marko Marulic” in Split. The application deadline is 15 December 2026.
With its residential programme “Marko Marulic” and the promotional activities of the international writers and translators in Split, the KURS Association connects and enables contemporary European writers and translators to familiarise themselves with the literary, cultural and social conditions in Croatia – more specifically in Split, while at the same time the local audience benefits from the impact with the selected European scene.
Thanks to the help of its partners in this project, namely the Croatian Ministry of Culture, the City of Split, Split-Dalmatia County and Traduki, the KURS Association has secured scholarships together with the accommodation in Split for authors and translators in 2027.
The visiting writer would use the residence to create and work, as well as engage in local cultural events in Split. During his/her residence, the author would also participate in readings, discussions and other events in the city library, schools and literary workshops.
The residency includes organized accommodation in the centre of Split for 4 weeks. The organizer covers the travel expenses and the scholarship.
